Limestone-based products have been used for decades in the final production of PVC because they are stable and reliable filler agent that has some additional advantages, such as densifying the final product, making it less fragile.
For the stabilization there was a huge switch towards lime-based agent together with metal soaps to improve the UV resistance and handling properties of some plastics. This switch was reinforced by the banning of harmful element like lead.
