Carmeuse supplies ViaCalco for the new BMW facility in Debrecen

As BMW is building a new automobile manufacturing plant in Debrecen, Hungary, Carmeuse is proud to have supplied ViaCalco-soil-binders to prepare the land for building this unique facility. Our soil stabilization solutions were chosen for being 100% sustainable by saving natural resources, execution time and money. Moreover, soil treatment as geo-technical solution avoids landfilling of poor rated soils, as marginal in-situ soils are fully recycled and transformed into strong and durable foundations for the car factory. As ViaCalco® solutions result also in a reduced CO2 footprint for the project, our solutions are more and more recognized and well appreciated by designers and investors.

The total surface of the area is 4.000.000 m2, with approximately 1.948.000 m2 to be built in and 1.962.078 m2 was stabilized (stabilized layer), in less than 1 year. In total, roughly 1.643.959 m3 of soil was needed for embankments. The production line of the new BMW plant will have a capacity of 150.000 cars per year.
