Carmeuse Overseas demonstrates its commitment to community development and sustainable practices through various initiatives. One of the most recent achievements is the opening of the new library near the San Pedro school in Côte d'Ivoire. This milestone reflects CMO’s commitment to providing inclusive and fair quality education for everyone.

Although the library's shelves were initially empty, they are now filled with books, thanks to the contributions from head office colleagues who organized a successful book drive. The boxes of reading materials have arrived at their new home in San Pedro, and their efforts have ensured that the library is stocked with a wide array of stories and educational materials.

Thanks to the generous donations, the new library is equipped with bookshelves, air conditioning, a computer, protective security grids and, of course, many books. This collaborative effort has created an inviting space for everyone to enjoy, transforming the library into a vibrant hub of learning and community engagement.

In addition to the educational initiatives, Carmeuse Overseas is also proud of the vegetable gardens and farms at many of their plants and production sites. These gardens play a major role in CMO’s sustainability initiatives. They create opportunities to learn new skills, reconnect with nature, and provide fresh products for the canteens, ensuring delicious and nutritious meals for everyone. Extra fruit and vegetables are also sold in the local communities, creating additional income and improving access to fresh products.

Carmeuse Overseas looks forward to seeing the positive impact these initiatives will have on the children, families, and communities served, fostering a love for reading, lifelong learning, and sustainable living. Here's to many years of knowledge, growth, and a brighter future for all!
