1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your journey to Carmeuse India?
I'm someone who really enjoys working with people and being part of a collaborative environment. I completed my Master's in English, which helped me build strong communication and interpersonal skills and that naturally led me toward HR. I joined Carmeuse India about a year ago, and it's been a wonderful experience. I enjoy the culture here, the supportive team, and the opportunities to grow.
2. What drew you to a career in HR, and what does your current role involve day-to-day?
I’ve always enjoyed interacting with people and understanding how they think and work. HR appeals to me because it combines people skills, communication, and problem-solving every day. In my current role, I have a mix of HR responsibilities like recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement and executive support, working closely with the leadership on scheduling, coordination and priorities. The combination keeps my days interesting and gives me the chance to contribute both operationally and strategically.
3. Outside of work, what are you passionate about?
Outside of work, I have a few things that keep me balanced and happy. I love travelling, exploring new places, cultures, and food. I also enjoy reading. It’s something that helps me unwind and keeps me learning. Cooking is another big passion of mine. I find it very relaxing, and I enjoy experimenting with new recipes. These are the things that help me recharge and stay creative outside the office.
4. How would you describe the culture at Carmeuse India? What makes it a unique place to work?
It's a very open, supportive, and people-centric environment. What makes it unique is the balance between professionalism and warmth: you feel encouraged to do your best, but also genuinely cared for as a person. Leadership is approachable, there's a strong sense of trust and collaboration, and there's always a focus on personal development. Overall, it's a place where people feel respected, empowered, and motivated every day.
5. Can you describe the work environment and offices: what's the atmosphere like and are there any spaces you particularly enjoy?
The atmosphere is positive, welcoming, and comfortable, professional but friendly, which makes collaboration easy. The office is bright, with an open workspace that encourages teamwork and quieter corners for focused work. My favorite spot is my seat right beside a window with a beautiful view of the Bangalore skyline. It’s one of those small things that makes the day feel a little special.
6. From an HR perspective, what has it been like building and growing a new team from the ground up?
Honestly, it's been one of the most fulfilling parts of my journey here. When I joined, the IT function was just being created. In the beginning, we faced challenges with profiles, expectations, and processes. Yet, everyone showed resilience, we learned quickly and kept moving forward.
Watching the team take shape, from the first hires to seeing people collaborate and find their rhythm, feels like watching something grow that you helped plant.
7. What advice would you give to someone considering applying for one of the open positions?
Be yourself and be honest, because we really value people of character at Carmeuse. If you're passionate about your work, willing to learn, and open to collaborating with global teams, you'll fit in well here. We're looking for people who not only have the right skills but also align with our values and the culture we're building in the IT Hub.
