WHAT IS THE SPECIFICITY OF THIS CCS PROJECT?
The project aims to capture CO₂ emissions from both cement and lime production and permanently store them underground. It is one of the first full-chain onshore CCS initiatives in Eastern Europe, covering CO₂ capture, transport and storage.
Carmeuse is a key partner in the project, contributing its expertise in lime production and CO₂ capture. At its Câmpulung site, it will implement carbon capture technologies and integrate its operations into a shared system with the neighbouring cement plant.
By combining emissions from both plants into a single infrastructure, Carbon Hub CPT01 supports the development of a scalable CO₂ value chain and contributes to the decarbonization of the construction and industrial sectors.
