Bulk Ag Lime Production
High Calcium ag lime is made from pulverized limestone and is almost entirely pure calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Ag lime is produced from high-quality limestone that is pulverized into fine particles before being spread in animal pens or on crops and fields to improve soil structure and crop productivity.
The difference between high calcium and dolomitic ag lime is the level of magnesium present in the raw stone. Dolomitic ag lime, sometimes referred to as high magnesium or “high mag” ag lime, is derived from dolomitic limestone that contains calcium and magnesium carbonate. Levels of magnesium carbonate (MgCO3) in dolomitic limestone are usually in the range of approximately 40%.
