River Rouge Hosts STEM Students for Manufacturing Day

On May 23, 2019 The River Rouge operation held its first Manufacturing Day and hosted 15 students from a local STEM school. Several Carmeuse employees spoke to the students, including Jacob Baith, Chad Wright, Donna Degree-Gordon, Rita Simpson, Scott Haener and Matthew Gower.

The speakers talked about Carmeuse, uses of limes, their backgrounds, goals and roles at the plant. There was also a Q&A session. All the kids received hard hats, safety glasses and Hi-Viz vests to take home. They were also treated to pizza and gift bags, and the school received a donation from Carmeuse.

Degree-Gordon said, “It’s always great when we get to share what Carmeuse is all about with people in our community. Having kids show interest in what we do is so gratifying.”
