For the second year in a row, the Carmeuse Longview Warriors have proven themselves by delivering a historic performance at the 7th Annual Florida Regional Mine Rescue Competition.
Held from February 16–19, 2026, at the Florida Public Safety Institute, the competition brought together the elite mine rescue teams from across the region to test their mettle in high-stakes, real-world emergency simulations. By the time the dust settled, the Longview hadn’t just won, they had achieved a clean sweep.
A Championship Performance
The Longview Warriors demonstrated unmatched precision and technical skill across every phase of the four-day event. Their path to the podium included top honors in:
- 1st Place: First Aid Competition
- 1st Place: Day 1 Field Exercise
- 1st Place: Day 2 Field Exercise
Because of their consistent excellence across all disciplines, the Longview Warriors were officially named the Overall Grand Champion for the second consecutive year.
Excellence in Leadership
The team’s success is a direct reflection of their rigorous preparation. In recognition of this elite level of readiness, Longview’s own Bobby Watley was honored as the Trainer of the Year. This award highlights the dedication required behind the scenes to ensure every team member can perform flawlessly under the pressure of a simulated disaster.
Why It Matters
Mine rescue competitions are more than just sporting events; they are critical training grounds that ensure miners return home safely every day. This year’s field exercises involved complex structural collapse and rope-rescue scenarios, requiring teams to navigate obscured environments and provide life-saving medical care to trapped victims.
The Longview Warriors’ dominant performance serves as a powerful reminder of our facility's commitment to safety, preparedness, and professional excellence.
Congratulations to the Warriors on another incredible year!
