Through recent community initiatives at the River Rouge and Dundas facilities, team members have delivered vital resources directly to nearby classrooms and families.
Empowering Future Innovators in River Rouge
At the River Rouge operation, team members partnered with their local Foundation Partner, the River Rouge STEM Academy, to help students gear up for a bright year ahead.
The River Rouge STEM Academy offers cutting-edge educational opportunities—ranging from an advanced science lab and Virtual Reality classes to unique hands-on programs like dog grooming, alongside dedicated student wellness initiatives like a dedicated meditation room. To support the academy’s focus on academic excellence and mental health, Christy Burt and the River Rouge team delivered a massive wave of supplies:
- 96 durable backpacks
- 1,000+ pencils and 200+ spiral notebooks
- Assorted school supply packets for classroom readiness
- Carmeuse Hard Hat keychain stress balls to align with the school's wellness and mindfulness focus
Equipping Local Families via the Flamborough Food Bank
Meanwhile, in Ontario, the team at the Dundas operation directed their back-to-school giving through the Flamborough Food Bank, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families in need across the Flamborough area.
Recognizing that every child deserves a strong start from day one, the Dundas operation delivered a broad shipment of essential school supplies to set hundreds of local children up for academic success. This initiative builds on the Dundas facility's ongoing commitment to the Flamborough Food Bank, where the team regularly provides quarterly donations of high-need staples like pasta, rice, and peanut butter.
