Carmeuse Port Inland employees’ generosity brightens the festive season

Carmeuse Port Inland employees’ generosity brightens the festive season

The holiday season is supposed to be a time of joy and thanksgiving. But for disadvantaged families, it can be a time of worry and stress. Recognizing this, employees at the Carmeuse Port Inland Operation held a food and toy drive to raise donations for local families in need.

The drive took place at the Port Inland facility. Employees donated non-perishable food items, toiletries and toys; Carmeuse also chipped in with a donation of $300.00 worth of toys.

“The true spirit of the season was very much in evidence. As a result of the kindness of our people, a whole truckload of items was taken to the local Good Neighbors Service,” said Shena Meffer, Administrative Assistant at Port Inland, who organized the event.

The food and toy drive continues Port Inland’s support of those in the local community who need a little extra help. In October, the plant sponsored the Manistique Feeding America food truck, which provides hundreds of food parcels to families in food poverty.
