Flue gas treatment

Reducing emissions of pollutants from smokestack exhaust is no longer optional. With stricter regulations across the EU and new regional and state rules, efficient flue gas treatment (FGT) is now a necessity.

In coal-fired electric power plants, during the incineration of domestic waste and in numerous industrial applications (glass, brick making, etc.), the calcium-based reagent (lime, hydrate lime & limestone) neutralises acids pollutants (like hydrochloric & hydrofluoric acids), removes sufur oxides and helps to adsorb most of the heavy metals present in the flue gases.

For all emission control systems, FGT is an added cost, often imposed without any accompanying revenue offset. In many cases, emissions control is not included within the company's core business structure, making the deployment of cost-effective technology essential.

Depending each situation slight modifications or significant upgrades to existing industrial installation are needed. Carmeuse offers a variety of calcium-based reagents to meet your specific needs. In addition to high quality sorbents, Carmeuse suppplies the expertise you need to optimize results and minimize costs.
