Treatment of domestic and industrial waste, and contaminated soils

Lime is an essential chemical in different operations (dehydration, stabilisation, fixation of heavy metals) of household, industrial waste, and contaminated soils treatment. It is efficient, economical and a  safe way to treat waste to prevent bad smell, water contamination due to leaching and vector attraction.

Carmeuse has developped CODECALŪ, an innovating liming process based on delayed reactivity lime to solve sludge conditionning problems. (More information)

Waste- and drinking water treatment

Lime is an essential reagent for waste and drinking water treatment .

It is especially used to:

  • correct the pH factor of excessively acidic waters and prevent dissolved metals from becoming insoluble and precipitating as metal hydroxides;

  • precipitate phosphates, sulphates and fluorides as easily recoverable insoluble calcium salts;

  • remineralise excessively soft water (aggressive to pipes);

  • decarbonate excessively hard water to prevent scaling of pipes.
