Carmeuse uses natural resources such as stone, energy, and water in its production and uses the most efficient processes to avoid wasting resources. Carmeuse is deeply involved in the reduction of CO2 emissions and develops efforts to improve his fuel efficiency.

Respect for the environment

Throughout its activities, Carmeuse endeavours to limit environmental impact by using the most recent techniques and production methods considered to be the best available technologies. This includes reducing dust, noise, vibrations and washing trucks and cleaning all access roads. Carmeuse pay also attention to the landscape integration of the quarries and the protection of biodiversity when projecting a new activity.  

To improve its environmental management, Carmeuse has elected environment-oriented management systems such as ISO14001 or EMAS.

Carmeuse borrows limestone from nature and restores each site to its natural state afterwards.

Planting projects, ponds, green areas, maintenance plans developed with local authorities,  as well as the creation of nature reserves bear witness  to  the company's will  to respect nature and contribute to its development  after utilizing its resources. Through these restorations Carmeuse preserve and develop biodiversity.
