Our North American Winchester operation has just started its first vertical kiln. This is a great move in terms of sustainability.
The Carmeuse Winchester Operation recently reached a milestone with the successful, January 19 start-up of one of their two new vertical kilns in Virginia.
The two new kilns at Winchester, Virginia represent significant expansion in North America, capable of providing 400 metric tpd (tons per day). These vertical kilns are state-of-the-art technology in the industry designed to operate very efficiently.
The Winchester team worked closely with its parent company in Belgium to realize and celebrate this significant accomplishment.
In memory of Carmeuse’s late Chief Operating Officer
The two Winchester kilns will be named after Bruce D. Routhieaux who was instrumental in the Winchester Kiln Project. Bruce was the Chief Operating Officer for Carmeuse North America in Pittsburgh, where he had worked for 36 years. Sadly, Bruce unexpectedly passed away on January 18, 2016.
